What is Qigong?

With its roots in the ancient system of Chinese medicine, qigong is slow, meditative movement and conscious breathing while circulating and and stimulating ones own energy or qi through energy pathways.

These exercises stimulate the immune system, relieve stress and calm the adrenals as well as teach us to heal ourselves. We learn to do self massage along our acupuncture pathways so we can keep our qi moving and breaking up any blockages. According to Chinese medicine when we have blocked qi different areas of the body can start to have problems. This can happen in any area of the body or mind such as digestive, respiratory, reproductive, muscular as well as emotional and mental.

How does the body get blocked? That’s easy! Life can do that. Stress is the biggest cause but also, injury, not enough sleep, bad diet and poor lifestyle choices, and of course pandemics! It’s almost impossible to stay perfectly in harmony if we want to keep on living. That’s why it is important to connect the body and mind and keep our qi moving with certain exercises and breath work. It’s not about being perfect, but about being in balance.
